Petoskey United Methodist Church
Children

Jesus said, "Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these." (Matthew 19:14)

Children have a special place at the Petoskey United Methodist Church. From a nursery staffed with a professional child-care worker to a single-parent & family ministry, we embrace the unique needs and gifts of our children, just as Jesus embraced them. Our goal for Children’s Ministry is to come alongside families as they raise their children in the Christian faith, offering a variety of resources and programming. Please contact the church office at (231) 347-2733 with specific questions about children’s ministry opportunities.

Nursery
The nursery is available from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on Sunday mornings for infants to age three. Our nursery is staffed by a professional child care worker as well as committed volunteers. Children are registered upon arrival and parents are assigned a beeper in case of an emergency. The parent returns the beeper when they pick up their child. The nursery is also staffed during special worship services and events. Go to Top

Sunday SchoolSunday School
Sunday School for all ages is held from 10:00-10:45 a.m., between the first and second worship services. A nursery for infants to age three is also provided at that time. Kindergarten through high school, as well as adult, classes explore the Bible and faith in everyday life. For a current list of class offerings and room locations, visit our Classes and Events page. Children in Worship
Children of all ages are welcome in both the 8:45 and the 11:00 a.m. worship services. The Children’s Sermon is aChildren in Worship highlight of every worship experience as Pastor James creatively engages our imaginations and our hearts by inviting all children forward to learn with him. Following the Children’s Sermon during the service, children ages 3 to 7 years are invited to Children's Worship. Our children also have a variety of music options available to them. The SONshine Kids choir is for toddlers to seven years and  King’s Choir is for elementary students. Both choirs share their music with us once a month. Go to Top

Church Dinners
True to long-standing tradition, the church family joins for a time of fun, food and fellowship every Wednesday night during the school year at 6:00 p.m.  The main entree is prepared by different volunteers every week while everyone else brings a side-dish, salad or dessert. Silverware, plates and cups are provided. Contributions of around $2 per person help cover the entree costs, and - of course - every helping hand is welcome in clean-up. Come join the family!
