By Jerry Londal In Psalm 139 vs. 1-3 and vs. 23-24 we read: "You have searched me, Lord, and you know me. You know when I sit and when I rise; you perceive my thoughts from afar. You discern my going out and my lying down. Search me, God, and know my heart; test me and know my anxious thoughts. See if there is any offensive way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting". What is "the way everlasting"? I believe that it is a constant walk with God each day of our lives. It can only be found through prayer, listening to the voice of God, and following that voice. Mother Theresa was once asked in a television interview what she said when she talked with God. Her answer was "I don’t say anything. I just listen." Do we spend time in prayer, and listen for the voice of God? Only by listening can we know the will of God for our lives, and allow Him to lead us. In Galatians 1:vs 3-5 we read: "Grace and peace to you from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ, who gave himself for our sins to rescue us from the present evil age, according to the will of our God and Father, to whom be Glory for ever and ever". The apostle Paul recognized that we have fallen short of what God expects of us and are often led by the seductive powers of this world. He also provides hope in the recognition that Jesus came to deliver us from our sins and draw us closer to God. Let us all seek the way everlasting, which can be found through faith in Jesus Christ and an open heart which listens to the will of God. Let us allow God and His son Jesus Christ to lead us.
