He Will Direct Your Path

By Jane Andrews

Proverbs 3: 5 & 6
Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding; In all your ways acknowledge Him and He will direct your paths.

A few years ago, our oldest son Mark began intense training with the Army National Guard to prepare for a deployment to Iraq. Del and I believe in having a strong military; we know that the freedom we enjoy in the United States is not free. It cost the lives of American men and women for the last two hundred years.

Since the birth of our nation, moms and dads have received news that their son or daughter, grandson or granddaughter, son-in-law or daughter-in-law gave the ultimate sacrifice for their country. That’s where the hard part comes. Who wants any soldier to die?

Then I think about the sacrifice made by our Lord Jesus. From eternity God had only one plan for the redemption of mankind that He loved. He would send His only Son to die to pay the penalty of my sin and yours so we could be free; free from our sin; free from ourselves; free to worship and have a personal relationship with the God of the Universe through the blood of His Son, Jesus. Wow! Talk about the cost of our spiritual freedom!

I’ve learned a lot about trusting the Lord during these past few years. Where else could I go, but to the One who gave His life for me? These are some of my conclusions:

God is the only One who has the answers. He’s the only One who loves me unconditionally.
Life is all about Him and not me.
Nothing is impossible for Him.
I can sing praises to Him even in my tears.
God has all His children in the palm of His hand
Nothing can touch me unless it first comes through His fingers of love.
Even though I can’t see the path and don’t understand a situation, He indeed will direct my path when I allow Him to.
In fact, the Lord will direct the path of all who trust in and acknowledge Him.

Hallelujah! What a Savior.
