Children

Jesus said, "Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these." (Matthew 19:14)

Children have a special place at the Petoskey United Methodist Church. Nursery staffed with a professional child-care worker. We embrace the unique needs and gifts of our children, just as Jesus embraced them. Our goal for Children’s Ministry is to come alongside families as they raise their children in the Christian faith, offering a variety of resources and programming. Please contact the church office at (231) 347-2733 with specific questions about children’s ministry opportunities.

Children's Activities on Sunday Mornings:

Nursery
The nursery is available from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on Sunday mornings for infants to age three. Our nursery is staffed by a professional child care worker as well as committed volunteers. Children are registered upon arrival and parents are assigned a beeper in case of an emergency. The parent returns the beeper when they pick up their child. The nursery is also staffed during special worship services and events.

Sunday School
Sunday School for all ages is held from 10:00-10:45 a.m., between the first and second worship services between September - May. A nursery for infants to age three is also provided at that time. Pre-School through high school, as well as adult classes explore the Bible and faith in everyday life.

Preschool/Kindergarten - LeaAnne Montel
1st & 2nd grades - Naomi DeWinter & Rachel Mantha
3rd & 4th grades - Sue Herrington
5th grades - Robin & Bill Scott/Kevin & Stacey Burns
Middle School - Cindy Brown, Brynne Klawuhn, & Joelle Wilcox
High School - A.K. Smith in Youth Room

Children in Worship
Children of all ages are welcome in the worship services.  The Children's Sermon is a highlight of every worship experience as Pastor James creatively engages our imaginations and our hearts by inviting all children to the front of the sanctuary to learn with him. Following the Children's Sermon during the service, children ages three to seven years are invited to Children's Worship. All Children age 2nd grade on up are invited to be part of the King's Choir. This Choir shares their music with us once a month.
